Mozartsteg

Did you know that the Mozartsteg was built on the initiative of a coffee house owner with the purpose to bring more guests from the old town to his café, situated on the other side of the Salzach river? The beautiful Art Nouveau bridge opened in 1903. Until 1920 the pedestrians were charged about 30 cents for passing the bridge. Nowadays the old toll-house on the old-town-side of the bridge is a stand-up café and – due to the loose and moist soil – very very crooked. I’ll show you more of those places during a guided walking tour, off the main tourist trails.
